The de Duve Institute has established two series of memorial lectures, which are given alternately every other year by prominent international scientists.

The Heremans Lectures were created following the untimely death in 1975 of Joseph-Félix Heremans. A specialist in human proteins, mainly those related to the immune system, he discovered the immunoglobulin IgA and created the general concept of immunoglobulins, for which he coined the term.

The de Duve Lectures were created following the death in 2013 of our founder, Christian de Duve.
